Memoirs and Biographies:

Memoirs Ink simplifies the life story writing process into easy conversation. We conduct 6 ninety-minute interview sessions, usually in the subject's home. Interviews are structured yet comfortable. We ask the right questions to guide the subject through childhood, youth, middle age, and other life changing events. The tapes from these live interview sessions become treasured keepsakes for family members and others to come.

After a life history is recorded, it is then transcribed and edited. Memoirs Ink then creates a Biography, or Autobiography. The process for each is described below:

Biographies: A personal biography is a book about the subject's life. It is based on the interviews but involves more creative writing. Parts of the story are fictionalized (based on truth and background research) and filled in to make the story more detailed and alive for readers. (Completed Biographies are between 100-200 pages.)

Memorial Biographies: A memorial biography is a distant cousin to the biography. As well as third person narration, it includes direct quotes from the subject's interviews or diaries, and quotes from other people who knew him/her in the various stages of his/her life. Memorial biographies usually give a more well-rounded view into the subject's life. This project requires interviews with additional subjects. It also works well for deceased subjects.

Autobiographies and Memoirs: Memoirs, Ink. ghostwrites autobiographies and memoirs for subjects who want their story told in their own voice. This process includes creative writing and more revision and input by the subject. (A Memoir is a shorter version of an autobiography which focuses on selected parts of a life story.)
